Overview

Deerwood Country Club is a private club in southeast Jacksonville at the center of the Deerwood gated community, which is often cited as the first gated community in Florida. The club was established in 1960.

The golf course was designed by George Cobb and was renovated by Brian Silva in 2004, playing to par 72 at more than 7,200 yards. In the late 1960s and early 1970s it hosted the Greater Jacksonville Open, the PGA Tour event that preceded The Players Championship. A further redesign by Erik Larsen was announced to begin in 2026.

The club also has Har-Tru tennis courts, a large swimming pool, a fitness center and a clubhouse that opened in 2004, along with riding trails within the community.
