Overview
The Bear's Club is a private golf club in Jupiter founded by Jack and Barbara Nicklaus, who created it in 1999; Nicklaus Design lists the course as opened in 2000. It is the home club of the Nicklaus family.
The club says its 18-hole course plays to 7,164 yards across about 369 acres of sandy, wooded land roughly a mile from the ocean. Its 354 bunkers, many steep-faced, were modeled on those Nicklaus saw at Royal Melbourne while he was U.S. Presidents Cup captain in 1998. A Tuscan-style clubhouse overlooks the 18th green.
Nicklaus Design notes the course was not meant to be a tournament venue but a private members' club.
