Overview
Highland Fairways is a gated community for residents 55 and older in north Lakeland, developed by Florida Leisure Communities between 1983 and 1998. Its 660 single-family homes, mostly two-bedroom, two-bath houses, are largely arranged around the community's golf course.
The 18-hole executive course is run on a semi-private basis, and residents can join for an annual fee. The clubhouse includes an exercise room, ballroom, library and billiards, with an outdoor pool and spa, shuffleboard courts, a tennis court and walking trails.
